The Patriarchal Commissioner of Cairo Metropolitan Nicodemus of Memphis mentioned in his sermon during the Festive Vespers in St. Demetrius Church in Zeitoun that due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa had to postpone the worship events it had planned on the occasion of the completion of 100 years since the repose of St. Nectarios.
Instead of the glorious events in the churches, there will be a procession of his holy relics in the celebrating Temples, where the Saint officiated, for the blessing of the faithful.
“Our Patriarchate would organize big events to honor Saint Nectarios but the virus did not allow it. We made the decision to bring to the Celebrating Temples the relic of Saint Nectarios (which is kept in Cairo) to give the opportunity to all of you to worship it and receive its blessing and grace. After St. Demetrius, we will go to Saints Anargyroi Church in Shubra, to Archangels Church in Daher, to Ilioupoli at the Entry of the Theotokos into the Temple Church. In general, we will bring it to all the temples so that the Saint can return to where he officiated as a Commissioner”, said Metropolitan Nicodemus of Memphis.
