The educational event entitled “From Otherness to Inclusion” was held yesterday, Monday, October 28, 2024, in the Great Synod Hall of the School.
The event was held with the esteemed blessing and under the auspices of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and was co-organized by the Patriarchal Institute of Patristic Studies in collaboration with various other educational institutions.
Bishop Kassianos of Aravissos, the Abbot, delivered the opening address in which he reflected on the themes of otherness and inclusion in the context of the Halki School of Theology. He also expressed his delight at the ongoing collaboration between the School and the Patriarchal Institute, which continues to yield positive results. This was evidenced by the successful organization of this educational initiative for the third consecutive year, with the presence of Ioanna Kliari, Director of Educational Programs at the Institute.
The event continued with presentations and remarks by the participants, including the President of the Institute of Educational Policy, Spyridon Doukakis, as well as representatives of the educational and academic community and various organizations and associations. After the presentations, the participants visited the Chapel of the Holy Trinity, the historic classrooms, and the renowned library of the school. The “Dominikos Theotokopoulos” Choir from Heraklion, Crete, performed an ode composed by I. Tagis to commemorate the inauguration of the School’s building, as this year’s event was dedicated by the organizing institutions to the celebration of the 180th anniversary of the founding of Halki Theological School.
