The Ecumenical Patriarchate, upon receiving the sorrowful news of the passing of the late Anna Psarouda-Benaki, a distinguished jurist, university professor, and academic who also made her mark in the field of politics, and of the late Asia Minor–born Eleni Glykatzi-Ahrweiler, a preeminent Byzantinist historian, university professor, and academic, extends its heartfelt condolences to their respective families.
The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will be represented at the funeral service of the blessed Anna Psarouda-Benaki by Metropolitan Theodoretos of Laodicea, and at the funeral service of the blessed Eleni Glykatzi-Ahrweiler by Metropolitan Andreas of Arkalochori, Kastelli, and Viannos.
The Mother Church prays to the Risen Christ for the repose of their souls “in the land of the living, in the tents of the righteous,” and expresses the hope that their spiritual and social contribution may serve as a source of inspiration and a precious legacy for future generations of Greeks.
May God grant them eternal rest.
