The Ecumenical Patriarchate, in a statement, declares its trust in the new Archbishop of Australia, Makarios, denying rumors of administrative changes in the Archdiocese.

According to a statement by the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the Holy Synod have not taken any decision regarding administrative changes and restructuring in the Archdiocese of Australia.

They add that they trust “the new and worthy pastor, who has the responsibility, and any possible change in the ecclesiastical regime will be made after the Archbishop’s recommendation and the approval of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.”

Also, in a separate announcement, the Ecumenical Patriarchate announces that it has suspended the deposition of the former Bishop of Christianoupolis in Australia, restoring him to the episcopal degree after his repentance and his apologies.

In a regular meeting on June 12, the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate also decided, apart from the election of Bishop Nikitas of Dardanelles as Archbishop of Thyateira, the renaming of the Metropolis of Toronto to Archdiocese of Canada, and of Metropolitan Sotirios, to Archbishop of Canada and Exarch of all Arctic.
