Accompanied by Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon and Bishop Kassianos of Arabissos, Abbot of the Holy Trinity Monastery of Halki, the Ecumenical Patriarch expressed his gratitude to the President for the opportunity to discuss matters concerning the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Greek Orthodox Community in a cordial atmosphere.
Particular focus was given to the Holy Theological School of Halki and the prospects for its reopening within the framework of the dialogue initiated between the Ministry of National Education, the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), and the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
The Ecumenical Patriarch and his accompanying hierarchs are scheduled to return to Constantinople later the same day.
