The Ecumenical Patriarch visited the tomb of Turgut Özal, former President of Turkey, today, April 17, as every year.
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, on the 26th anniversary of Özal’s death, left some flowers as a mark of gratitude and honour to his memory.
It is recalled that Özal was the one who “after waiting and obstructionism for almost half a century”, issued permission to reconstruct the current Patriarchal House in the Phanar.
The Patriarch was accompanied by the Deacon Grigorios and the Deputy Secretary of the Holy Synod.
