In response to an honorary invitation from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of the Republic of Turkey, the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will travel to Ankara this afternoon, Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
Accompanied by Grand Archdeacon Grigorios, he will attend the official reception at the Beştepe Presidential Palace and other events commemorating National Day and the Proclamation of the Republic.
Also attending these events by invitation is Geron Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon.
The Ecumenical Patriarch is expected to return late in the evening to the Sacred Center of the Great Church of Christ.
Earlier this morning, the Ecumenical Patriarch, accompanied by the Grand Archdeacon, visited the governor’s office with other religious leaders of Constantinople. They conveyed their congratulations to the governor on the country’s national anniversary, in accordance with established protocol.
