The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, responding to an invitation extended to him and other religious leaders of the country by the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), traveled to Ankara yesterday evening, March 3, 2025.
There he attended an Iftar dinner, a meal traditionally offered during Ramadan to break the daily fast, at which the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, was also present and delivered a speech.
The Ecumenical Patriarch extended his best wishes to the President and through him to all Muslims in the country for the holy month of Ramadan.
The dinner was attended by a large number of guests, including ambassadors and diplomats from foreign countries, as well as prominent political and social figures from the country.
The Ecumenical Patriarch, who returned to Constantinople on the same day, was accompanied by Metropolitan Andreas of Saranta Ekklisies.
