On Holy Thursday, April 17, 2025, on the anniversary of the death of the President of the Republic of Turkey, Turgut Ozal, who had shown kindness to the Ecumenical Patriarchate by granting, after a long delay, the permits for the reconstruction of the present Patriarchal House in the Phanar, the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, as he does every year, visited the monument where his tomb is located and laid flowers.
The Ecumenical Patriarch greeted the widow of the late President, as well as the other relatives and friends present, and expressed his wish that God grant them good health so that they may continue to honor his memory.
