With Byzantine majesty, the Dormition of Virgin Mary was celebrated at the Protaton (the Church of Protos, the president of the monastic community) in Karyes, Mount Athos.
Metropolitan Stefanos of Phillipi presided over the Holy Services, in the presence of the Chief Supervisor (Protepistatis) Elder Symeon Dionysiatis, members of the Holy Epistasia and the former Civil Governor, Kostis Dimtsas.
The Holy Services were also attended by representatives of the Holy Monasteries, monks from the Sketes and the hermitages (askiteria) as well as a crowd of faithful worshippers.
