The Direct Archdiocesan District (DAD) Clergy-Laity Congress convened with prayerful solemnity and forward-looking purpose on Saturday, April 25th, at the Greek Orthodox Church of our Saviour in Rye, New York, with 175 clergy and lay delegates in attendance.
Opening with an address by Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, who called the faithful to bold vision and faithful stewardship in the life of the Church. Emphasizing the transformative power of lived faith, Archbishop Elpidophoros noted, “When we practice our faith, and when we experience the mysteries of God through our profound and magnificent symbols, we are changed on the inside,” underscoring that such transformation “creates stable and strong parishes” capable of both welcoming newcomers and sustaining the faithful.
Key addresses were delivered by DAD leadership, including Vice Chair Mrs. Stephanie Clark and Chancellor Rev. Protopresbyter Elias Villis, as well as Bishop Athenagoras of Nazianzos, representing the Department of Religious Education. Additional remarks were offered by Archdiocesan Council Treasurer Mrs. Elaine Allen and Rev. Protopresbyter Michael Lambakis, President of Hellenic College Holy Cross School of Theology, alongside updates on the St. Michael’s Home expansion and parish planned giving initiatives.
