Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East welcomed the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Cyprus in Syria, Michalis Chatzikyriakos, to the Patriarchal Residence in Damascus.
During the meeting, they discussed the general situation in the region, as well as the current state of Christians in Syria following the events in Sqelbiya.
Mr Chatzikyriakos expressed Cyprus’s solidarity with the Church of Antioch in the current circumstances.
The meeting also addressed the recent condemnable military escalation in Lebanon, emphasising the urgent need to end the ongoing conflict.
