On Thursday, April 24, the Archdiocesan Council of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia convened in session in Sydney, under the presidency of Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
This was the first meeting of this collective body of the Archdiocese of Australia following the Apostolic Visit of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to the Fifth Continent.
At the outset, Archbishop Makarios warmly thanked all members of the Council for their contribution to the successful organization of the events marking the centenary of the local Church and the historic Patriarchal Visit.
Furthermore, the Archdiocesan Council addressed matters pertaining to Greek Orthodox and theological education and reviewed the progress of the project concerning the reconstruction of the building facilities of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia in Sydney.
