On Thursday, November 3, Archbishop Makarios of Australia had a fruitful meeting with the members of the Orthodox Student Clubs operating in four universities of New South Wales, as well as with the clergy in charge of them.
In particular, students from the University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney), the University of Sydney, the University of Technology Sydney, and Macquarie University took part in the meeting.
The Archbishop warmly welcomed them and thanked them for their zeal in order to maintain the Orthodox faith in higher education and, by extension, in the scientific community.
Then, he listened carefully and with paternal interest to the anxieties and concerns of the young people, followed by a constructive discussion, with the participation of those responsible for the Orthodox Student Clubs of Clergy.
At the end of the meeting, Archbishop Makarios gave his blessing to the students and urged them to continue working with dedication for the glory of Christ and the Church, while assuring them that he would be firmly by their side, in every need and in every initiative they take.
On this occasion, Protosyncellus, Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne, Christoforos Krikelis, was appointed Head of the Religious Service of the Holy Archdiocese.
