A fundraising dinner in support of the St. Elesa Food Initiative, implemented by the Parish of the Resurrection of Christ in Kogarah, was held at the Grand Roxy Reception Centre in Brighton Le Sands, Sydney, and was a great success.
Archbishop Makarios of Australia and Bishops Elpidios of Perth and Christodoulos of Magnesia graced the event with their presence.
Over three hundred people attended the charitable evening, including clergy members and distinguished figures from the Greek-Australian community.
During his speech, Archbishop Makarios emphasized the importance of helping those in need and congratulated Bishop Christodoulos, Fathers Athanasios Yiatsios, and Sokratis Dokos, and the Philoptochos Sisterhood of the Resurrection of Christ Parish for their work in assisting the most vulnerable members of the community.
Bishop Christodoulos of Magnesia, the parish priest of the Kogarah parish, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Archbishop on behalf of all the volunteers of the St. Elesa Food Initiative for his unwavering and unconditional support. He noted that under the Archbishop’s guidance and pastoral care, the initiative continues to serve and support those in need.
Bishop Christodoulos also offered sincere thanks to the sponsors, donors, and all supporters of the Initiative, whose contributions are vital to fulfilling its mission.
Thanks to the generosity of the attendees, the successful fundraising dinner raised $178,000. These funds will support the St. Elesa Food Initiative’s ongoing work.
