Archbishop Ioannis of Tirana, Durrës, and All Albania is currently visiting the United States at the invitation of Archbishop Elpidophoros of America.
Archbishop Elpidophoros welcomed Archbishop Ioannis at the airport with other clergy as part of an international assembly in honor of the late Archbishop Anastasios.
On Sunday of Orthodoxy, March 1, 2026, Archbishop Ioannis presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Church of Saint Catherine in Braintree, Massachusetts. Fifteen hierarchs from various autocephalous churches and two bishops from Albanian dioceses in America attended the service. Archbishop Ioannis’s presence marked a significant moment for Orthodoxy, reuniting representatives from many autocephalous churches at a sacred table after many years.
Today, March 2, Archbishop Ioannis will deliver the keynote address at the international assembly honoring the late Archbishop Anastasios. The assembly will take place from March 2 to 4.
The following Sunday, March 8, he will preside over the Divine Liturgy at the historic Church of Saint George in Boston, accompanied by Bishop Nikodimos of the Albanian Archdiocese in America.
