2019 was a very important year for us. We have created an English-speaking news portal in order to inform you about what is happening in the Orthodox and the Christian world, in general.
It is an effort that follows much preparation and anxiety, which persisted for many months. We wanted to offer accurate and reliable information to a very demanding audience. Information completely free from exaggerations and expediencies.
Our main goal was, and remains, to deliver church news with clarity, accuracy, and validity, and as far as possible, to stop the spread of fake news.
As Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew had recently stated, “Fake news seem to have taken the form of a pandemic, causing serious damage to culture. It seems to have direct consequences on Church unity, reliable information, people’s confidence in journalism, media reporting, and on things that relate to the truth and social cohesion.”
In addition, except for its efforts to improve its services constantly, orthodoxtimes.com is also fighting against fake news.
In doing all these things, we have found supporters (and we encourage anyone who wishes to support orthdoxtimes.com) from the Church, the business world and the cultural world.
We offer you a transparent news portal, which does not reproduce any fake news.
Among those who support us, it is the U.S. Department of State which has acknowledged the effort of orthodoxtimes.com to combat fake news and to inform with accuracy about what is happening in the world.
Orthodoxtimes.com delivers news almost immediately and accurately by using either its own primary sources or secondary sources, which are cited in the texts.
We aim to continue this effort and to continually improve our services with the support of our readers who honour us daily.
Thank you for recognising our effort.
We wish you a Happy New Year. May the Grace of God enlighten us all.
