The Church of Greece is about to enter a new era from tomorrow as the Joint Ministerial Decision on “temporary measures imposed on places of worship for the protection of public health against COVID-19” expires.
The Church of Greece is expecting new measures upon which pilgrimage tourism and summer festivals depend. The Standing Holy Synod will hold a meeting tomorrow in order to make decisions on how churches will be operating.
The government is lifting restrictions on church attendance, sacraments and festivals for churches and monasteries and, of course, for Mount Athos, the monks of which have decided to make some changes due to the fact that pilgrims are reluctant to visit Mount Athos.
