With the blessing of Archbishop Makarios of Australia and under the guidance of Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis, GO Youth Melbourne under the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, held its third talk of 2023.
The speaker for the night was Fr Nicholas Georgiou, the parish priest of the Presentation of Our Lady to the Temple Greek Orthodox Church, Balwyn North.
The talk was hosted in the hall of the aforementioned parish and its topic was related to the period we are currently traveling through, that of Holy and Great Lent. Father Nicholas spoke to the approximately 30 young people who attended, about the imitation of Christ and his sacrifice. In particular, he explained how the believer can participate in the crucifixion of the Lord, noting that trust in God is the key to having a godly life and pointing out that we cannot overcome our passions if we do not allow God to be our guide and if we do not let the mysteries to transform us.
During his talk, Fr Nicholas also answered questions from the audience, providing guidance on how they can deal with life’s sufferings, how to react to people who attack our faith, and how they can be transformed in Christ.
The members of GO Youth Melbourne warmly thanked Fr Nicholas for taking the time to attend the event and speak to the young members of our Holy Church.
