On Friday, February 6, 2026, the feast of Saint Photios, Patriarch of Constantinople, a Synodal Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the katholikon of the Holy Monastery of Penteli, in the presence of Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece.
The Divine Liturgy was presided over by the Vice President of the Holy Synod, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Chalkida, concelebrated by Metropolitan Nikolaos of Mesogaia and Metropolitan Irineos of Florina,, together with clergy. The worship service was held in an atmosphere of reverence and prayer, honoring the memory of the great Patriarch of Constantinople and teacher of the Church, Saint Photios.
Following the Divine Liturgy, a commemorative event was held in honor of the feast. The keynote address was delivered by Professor Vasiliki Mitropoulou, who spoke on the theme, “The Pedagogical Messages of Saint Photios in the Contemporary Era.” Her lecture highlighted aspects of Saint Photios’ theological and educational legacy and underscored their enduring relevance for modern society and contemporary education.
