The great feast of the Pentecost and the Kneeling Vesper were celebrated today with due respect and grandness at Athens Cathedral.
The festal Divine Liturgy and the Vesper, during which the Kneeling Prayers were read, was presided by Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece, assisted by Bishop Symeon of Thespies.
Besides the Archbishop and Bishop Symeon, there co-officiated Father Thomas Synodinos along with Archpriest Vasilios Chrysopoulos, Archpriest Dimitrios Nikou, and the pastor of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens Archimandrite Chrysostomos Koulouriotis.
After the Divine Liturgy, the Kneeling Vesper was performed, where Divine Prayers were read from the Holy Altar in front of the Beautiful Gate.
During the reading of these prayers, everyone makes a full prostration, and for these reason these marvelous prayers are called “Kneeling Vespers”.
Prior to the end of the Sacred Service, the Primate of the Cathedral, Father Thomas Synodinos, wished Archbishop Ieronymos for his name-day feast.
