On Sunday of Orthodoxy, March 21, 2021, Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium and Exarch of the Netherlands and Luxembourg, presided over the Divine Liturgy at the cathedral of Saints Archangels Michael and Gabriel in Brussels, in compliance with all COVID-19 restrictive measures.
This year, for the first time since 1983, the traditional Orthodox co-liturgy did not take place, in which the Belgian Orthodox Bishops took part together with choirs and a large number of believers.
The Metropolitan of Belgium in his sermon referred to the meaning of the Sunday of Orthodoxy and what Orthodoxy means in the life of a Christian. After the Divine Liturgy, the procession of the holy icons inside the Temple followed, and the Metropolitan of Belgium ordained the student Konstantinos Garofallou as a reader.
Finally, Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium thanked for their presence the Ambassador of Greece in Belgium Dionysios Kalambrezos and the Consul General of Greece in Brussels Vassilios Zarbalis as well as the priest in charge for the work he performs, asking at the same time believers, who watched live, to assist in this work.
