The sermons of Metropolitan Neophytos of Morphou are disrupting the relations of the Church of Cyprus with the Church of Greece, which called the Holy Synod of Cyprus, through Archbishop Chrysostomos, to “stop” the Metropolitan of Morphou.
In addition to the prophecies expressed by the Metropolitan of Morphou on various issues, the straw that broke the camel’s back was his attitude and sermons against the pandemic and specifically his position against vaccines.
According to the newspaper “Fileleftheros”, yesterday Archbishop Chrysostomos read a letter from the Holy Synod of Greece in the presence of the members of the Holy Synod (present was also the Metropolitan of Morphou). Through the letter, the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece expressed complaints that Neophytos of Morphou with his speeches and sermons influences the faithful of Greece not only with his prophecies but also with the issue of the vaccination against Covid-19. The Metropolitan of Morphou should be limited by the Archdiocese.
According to information from “F”, hierarchs in Greece believe that when people next to us die because of the pandemic, a hierarch cannot declare that more or less the coronavirus does not exist. The Archbishop, after reading the letter, called on the Metropolitan of Morphou to respect the wish of the Holy Synod of Greece and to stop these sermons. According to the information of “F”, Neophytos of Morfou replied that he had said everything he had to say on the specific issue and added that he will not re-open this issue until Christmas.
It is recalled that only on May 13 the Metropolitan of Morphou denied that he had been vaccinated and added: “I have not been vaccinated so far nor do I intend to be vaccinated in the future, as I consider these vaccines very dangerous. After all, in many of my interviews and sermons, which are already circulating on the internet, I have clearly and responsibly explained the reasons why I refuse to be vaccinated. ”
It is noted that the brother of a member of the Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus was infected with Covid-19 and his condition is considered serious at a point where doctors from abroad were called.
In the letter of the Holy Synod of Greece, a complaint was also expressed in reports of the Metropolitan about the measures that had been taken in the churches during the Easter period and specifically with his report that he did not agree with the Church of Greece for the resurrection service at 9:00 pm
