The Feast of Saint Catherine the Great Martyr was celebrated with grandeur on Sunday, December 8, at the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of Mount Sinai, Egypt. The historic monastery, renowned for its spiritual heritage, hosted dignitaries and faithful for this special occasion.
Among the honored attendees was the Greek Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias, who participated following an invitation from Archbishop Damianos of Sinai.

The Divine Liturgy was presided over by Archbishop George of Cyprus and co-celebrated by Metropolitan Gabriel of Nea Ionia and other clergymen. During the service, Archbishop Damianos awarded Minister Dendias with the Cross of the Patron Saint of Sinai, Saint Catherine the Great Martyr, as a mark of gratitude and honor.
The service was attended by notable diplomatic representatives, including Greece’s Ambassador to Egypt, Nikolaos Papageorgiou, and Cyprus’ Ambassador to Egypt, Poly Ioannou.
Following the Divine Liturgy, Minister Dendias joined the sacred procession of the Holy Relics of Saint Catherine, a moving tradition that underscores the deep spiritual significance of the monastery.
