The Hellenic Institute of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Studies in Venice decided to award again scholarships for young researchers, “serving its first statutory objective, that is the promotion of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Studies,” as stressed in a statement.
The Hellenic Institute in Venice invites postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers of Greek nationality to submit their research proposal in the scientific field of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Studies for the award of an annual scholarship for the academic year 2019-2020.
In total, up to 6 proposals will be selected and the maximum funding for each scholarship will amount to € 10,000 in total, paid in 4 installments of € 2,500 every three months. The beneficiaries will be staying free of charge at the Institute, and will have full access to the Library, the Archives and the facilities of the Institute throughout the scholarship.
“The scholarship announcement reassures the determination of the Institute’s Administration under a new legislative regime to re-launch the Hellenic Institute for Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Studies in Venice as the strong scientific, research and cultural pole of Greece in Europe. Young scientists, either men or women, are invited to submit research proposals in the field of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Studies which they will implement at the Institute, promoting its statutory objectives.” Markos Bolaris stressed that “the Institute is the only Greek specialized expert body that grants scholarships of this amount and these privileges in the field of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Studies”.
