A widespread wildfire in the municipality of Delvinë, Albania, caused extensive damage to the Church of Saint Demetrios, along with nearby homes and agricultural lands.
The church, designated as a cultural monument, dates back to the 18th century. The fire left only the walls and supporting pillars standing, as the roof collapsed and its sacred relics were destroyed, an image that deeply saddens the local community.
The village president and residents expressed profound sorrow over the near-total destruction of the church, as well as the other devastating effects of the blaze.
