The Serbian Patriarchate has issued an official statement reporting a series of cyberattacks and coordinated actions targeting its digital and media platforms, while also denouncing what it described as an organized anti-Church campaign conducted by certain print and online media outlets.
According to the announcement, the expert team of the Serbian Orthodox Church has, since the beginning of the year—and particularly around the feast of Saint Sava, the first Archbishop of the Serbs—identified a number of “carefully organized and highly sophisticated attacks” directed against various digital and informational resources of the Serbian Patriarchate. These attacks, the statement notes, have coincided with an overt anti-Church media campaign carried out by specific outlets.
Despite these developments, the Church emphasized that its Information Service continues to operate without interruption, faithfully carrying out its long-established communication mission. In this context, the statement recalled Christ’s words to His disciples: “What I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim from the housetops.”
The Serbian Patriarchate also reassured the faithful and members of the media that reliable information regarding the life and activities of the Church remains accessible through its official channels. These include the official website of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Facebook account of Patriarch Porfirije, the Instagram accounts of the Church’s Information Service and of Patriarch Porfirije himself, as well as the Church’s official presence on the X platform.
