The Serbian Orthodox Church has officially convened the regular session of its Holy Assembly of Bishops, which will solemnly open on May 13, 2026, with a concelebrated Divine Liturgy and the Invocation of the Holy Spirit at the Church of Saint Sava in the Vračar district of Belgrade.
The Holy Assembly was convened by the Holy Synod of Bishops in accordance with Article 59 of the Constitution of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
The working session of the highest hierarchical, legislative, and judicial body of the Church will begin the following day, May 14, in the crypt of the Church of Saint Sava under the presidency of Serbian Patriarch Porfirije and with the participation of diocesan hierarchs from across the Serbian Orthodox Church.
According to the official procedure established by the Assembly’s Rules of Procedure, the session will begin with the adoption of the agenda, consisting of matters submitted by the Holy Synod of Bishops. This will be followed by the consideration of reports on the pastoral work of diocesan bishops, as well as reports from central Church bodies, institutions, and departments.
At the conclusion of the session, the Holy Assembly is expected to issue an official communiqué summarizing its work and decisions.
