In accordance with Article 59 of the Constitution of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Holy Synod of Bishops has convened the annual regular session of the Holy Assembly of Bishops, which will officially open on May 13, 2025, with a solemn Hierarchical Divine Liturgy and the Invocation of the Holy Spirit at the Saint Sava Memorial Cathedral in Vračar, Belgrade.
The working sessions of the Church’s highest hierarchical, legislative, and judicial body will begin the following day, May 14, 2025, in the crypt of the Saint Sava Cathedral. The Assembly will be presided over by Serbian Patriarch Porfirije and will include the participation of all diocesan hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
According to the official Rules of Procedure, the session will begin with the adoption of the agenda, which consists of matters submitted by the Holy Synod. The Assembly will then proceed to review detailed reports on the pastoral and administrative work of each diocesan bishop, as well as reports from the Church’s central bodies, institutions, and departments.
At the conclusion of the Assembly, a formal communiqué outlining the decisions and resolutions adopted will be issued to the public.
