The Diocese of Raška and Prizren has strongly denied recent claims about a so-called “fundamental agreement” between the Serbian Orthodox Church and institutions in Pristina, calling them entirely false and politically motivated.
In an official statement, the Diocese clarified that no such draft, text, or proposal has ever existed or been discussed within the Church’s official bodies, including the Assembly and the Holy Synod. The content reported in the media was described as a legal and political fabrication with no grounding in reality.
The Diocese particularly condemned insinuations about the potential formation of a “Kosovo Orthodox Church” as a serious slander and a threat to Serbian heritage and holy sites in Kosovo and Metohija.
Referencing a similar denial in October 2024, the Diocese criticized Danas and the Movement for the Renewal of the Kingdom of Serbia (POKS) for spreading misinformation that misleads the public and disturbs the faithful.
The Serbian Orthodox Church, the statement affirms, will continue to protect its religious, cultural, and historical presence in Kosovo and Metohija with dignity and spiritual responsibility, free from political interference.
