Greek Orthodox Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East, received Dr. Maher Al-Sharaa, Secretary-General of the Presidency, officially envoied by Mr. Ahmad Al-Sharaa, President of the Syrian Arab Republic, at the Patriarchate in Damascus.
Dr. Al-Sharaa conveyed the President’s condolences for the victims of the attack on St. Elias Church in Douilaa, Damascus, emphasizing that such a crime targets coexistence in Syria. He also expressed the President’s deep appreciation for Patriarch John X and the authentic Christian component, which finds in the Patriarchate a symbol of its enduring presence and pioneering role in the history of the East.
For his part, Patriarch John X warmly welcomed Dr. Al-Sharaa and the accompanying delegation, requesting that his greetings and appreciation be conveyed to the President. He highlighted that the Christian role in Syria and the East is deeply rooted, affirming that the Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East has always been standing by the people of this land, regardless of majority or minority considerations.
The meeting was an occasion to reaffirm bonds of fraternity and dialogue, and to exchange views on current both international and domestic developments.
