With poems, music, and dances, the Three Hierarchs were celebrated on Sunday, January 29, at the Greek Orthodox Community of Agia Triada and Apostle Luke in Birmingham.
Bishop Maximos of Melitene presided over the Divine Liturgy, along with Protopresbyter Christos Stefanos and Nikolaos Loukas Karafyllidis.
After the Divine Liturgy, a school feast followed with the Consul General of Cyprus in London, Odysseas Odysseos. The Consul General of Greece in London, Christos Goulas, and the Deputy Coordinator of Education at the Greek Embassy, Veroni Irini, also addressed the event.
Students of the Greek School of the Community of Ap. Luke Birmingham, numbering 300 students, recited poems and songs.
After the celebration, Bishop Maximos of Melitini met with the officials and discussed the shortage of teachers in Great Britain, as well as the major problems created by the change in legislation due to Brexit, and in particular the difficulties of granting residence and work permits to teachers and clergy.
An official lunch followed in a hall of the Greek Cypriot Home with music and traditional dances, where prizes and cash prizes were awarded to excellent students of the Greek School.
