In a deeply reverent and solemn atmosphere, the Service of the Epitaphios (Burial of Christ) was celebrated on Holy Friday in two historic churches in the heart of Athens: the Church of Agia Dynami, adjacent to the Metropolitan Cathedral, and the Church of Saint Nicholas Rangavas, nestled in the picturesque Anafiotika neighborhood of Plaka.
In the featured photograph, the beautifully adorned Epitaphios of Agia Dynami captures the spiritual depth and emotional intensity of Good Friday. The floral arrangement reflects the sacredness of the occasion and the profound devotion of the faithful.
A large number of worshippers gathered for the services, participating in silent prayer and reflection to honor the Burial of the Lord, embodying the spirit of Holy Friday with heartfelt devotion and stillness.
