The Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine, led by Metropolitan Onufriy, had an unexpected blow from Vladimir Putin himself.
Asked about Ukraine and the invitation for a meeting sent by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, the Russian president said:
“Recently, the current administration of Ukraine has taken many steps that dissolve Russian-Ukrainian relations. This concerns a number of problems in bilateral relations, this concerns relations with the Russian Orthodox Church and its dissolution… the efforts to dissolve it (…).”
In other words, the Russian president himself admitted that the Church of Metropolitan Onufriy, which tries to prove that it is an “independent Church of Ukraine” in every way, through threats and lawsuits, is in fact what all church figures know very well. well; a part, a branch of the Russian Orthodox Church, which is controlled directly by Moscow.
