The Romanian Patriarchate and Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) have announced a joint humanitarian initiative worth €50,000 to support the Christian community in the Gaza Strip, as well as other vulnerable individuals and communities facing severe humanitarian hardship.
The project, officially titled “Gaza Christians Aid Package,” will be implemented between June and December 2026 in Gaza City and surrounding areas. It forms part of Romania’s broader and ongoing efforts to assist the civilian population affected by the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The funding, provided by the Romanian Patriarchate in a spirit of Christian solidarity and social responsibility, will be used to supply food, medicines, and other essential goods to families in need, with particular attention given to children.
The humanitarian operation is being coordinated with the direct support of the Romanian Embassy in Tel Aviv, which facilitated cooperation with the American humanitarian organization Samaritan’s Purse. Through this partnership, the financial assistance will be rapidly converted into direct aid and safely distributed to vulnerable civilians on the ground.
The project is expected to benefit approximately 600 people and is structured around four main areas of intervention. These include food assistance through the preparation and distribution of around 2,400 hot meals, educational support through the provision of 200 fully equipped school backpacks, medical assistance including essential medicines for chronic illnesses and hygiene kits for 200 vulnerable individuals, and improved access to clean water through the purchase and distribution of ten large water tanks.
According to the organizers, the project will be implemented in strict accordance with international humanitarian principles, including impartiality, non-discrimination, protection, and the safety of beneficiaries.
