Fr. Alexandru Cristian Truşcan, parish priest of the Romanian Orthodox community in Dubai, has issued a message of reassurance and prudence regarding the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.
“We are responsibly monitoring the evolution of the situation,” the priest told Basilica.ro, noting that although there have been isolated incidents in the region in recent days, they have not directly affected the life of the Romanian community. “The authorities are managing the situation responsibly,” he added.
Fr. Alexandru Cristian Truşcan confirmed that the parish’s liturgical schedule continues as usual. “The liturgical program of our parish is proceeding according to the normal order. We remain in constant contact with members of the community,” he said. So far, no requests for special intervention or emergency assistance have been addressed to the parish.
Referring to Romanians temporarily in the United Arab Emirates, he acknowledged that some are facing difficulties returning to Romania. In such cases, the parish reaffirms its role as a source of spiritual and community support, offering guidance and pastoral care to those affected.
Special prayers have been added to the liturgical services for Romanians living abroad, their families, and all those impacted by the current conflicts. “We pray for peace among nations and for an end to wars, asking God to bring calm, wisdom, and stability to the region and the entire world,” the priest said.
The Romanian Parish in Dubai also urges Romanian citizens in the UAE to remain in contact with the relevant authorities and representatives of the Romanian community. Those in the country are advised to notify the Embassy of Romania in Abu Dhabi or the Consulate General of Romania in Dubai of their presence and contact details, and to stay informed regarding flight availability, as the UAE airspace has been partially reopened with limited departures from Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
