On July 6, the Orthodox Diocese of Vad, Feleac, and Cluj in central Romania and the Evangelical Lutheran Diocese of Württemberg, Germany, celebrated thirty years of partnership.
The anniversary was marked by a retrospective session held at the diocesan center in Cluj-Napoca, attended by representatives from both institutions.
The joint projects of the past 30 years were reminisced at the session.
The German delegation was led by His Eminence Ernst-Wilhelm Gohl, the Evangelical Lutheran Bishop of Württemberg.
“We are very pleased to have had this wonderful and blessed opportunity of a 30-year partnership with the Archdiocese of Cluj. We have great hope and pray to God that we can continue for at least 30 more years,” His Eminence Ernst-Wilhelm Gohl told Trinitas TV.
In the afternoon, the guests were welcomed by Metropolitan Andrei at the archdiocese’s headquarters in Cluj. During the meeting, His Eminence noted the fruitful collaboration between the two ecclesiastical institutions and its outcomes.
Through the partnership with the Evangelical Lutheran Diocese of Württemberg, restoration, and modernization works have been carried out on the Metropolitan Cathedral in Cluj-Napoca, as well as at the Salva, Florești, and Piatra Fântânele Monasteries.
Other partnership results include the establishment of the “Saint Nectarios” Palliative Care Centre, the printing of the first catechism in Romania after 1989, the founding of the “Christiana” Polyclinic in Mociu, the establishment of Radio Renașterea, the organization of youth camps at the Piatra Fântânele Monastery, and the provision of scholarships to numerous young people from the Cluj Archdiocese.
