Director of the Republic Institute for Protection of Cultural and Historical and Natural Heritage of Republika Srpska Mrs Jasna Milesevic with an entourage visited the Bishop of Pakrac-Slavonia on Thursday, June 11th this year, Bishop Jovan welcomed the representatives of the Institute in Jasenovac Monastery, which is experiencing spiritual and building rebirth.
After visiting the chapel of the New Martyrs of Jasenovac, the monastery church of St. John the Forerunner and the guest-house, the guests visited the remains of the camp complex. There was a discussion about a possibility of the Institute’s participation in matters related to the restoration of this sanctuary. After a tour of Jasenovac, led by Bishop Jovan, guests paid a visit to the city of Pakrac, which is the headquarters of the Pakrac-Slavonia Diocese, with the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Archives and Episcopal Palace where an adaptation of the Episcopal Library, a most significant Serbian library west of the Drina river processes. Mr Dario Drinic was accompanying the director of the Institute.
