The Council of Ministers of Cyprus decided to implement stricter measures to restrict mass gathering and traffic as part of the efforts to curb the COVID-19 resurgence.
The new measures will take effect from Sunday, January 10, until January 31, 2021.
In particular, the Divine Liturgy in the churches or places of worship will be performed without the presence of believers.
The faithful will be able to come to the places only for individual prayer, provided that the health measures will be observed, while the religious ceremonies, such as weddings, baptisms, funerals, will be held with a maximum number of 10 people.
There will also be a traffic ban from 9:00 to 17:00 the next day, a ban on gatherings in open public spaces as well as movement will be authorized only by SMS message (up to two SMS messages per day per person).
