Ankara launched a new attack towards Greece on the occasion of yesterday’s tripartite Summit in Cyprus with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades and the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
In a recent statement issued by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that “completely rejects the joint statement of Cyprus, Greece and Egypt, noting that it contains “baseless accusations” against Turkey.
As reported by skai.gr, the Turkish side accused the three countries of creating problems by talking about “maximalist and hostile policies” and stressed that Ankara will continue to protect its rights.
In detail, the announcement of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
“We completely reject the statement that was published at the end of the tripartite Summit, held between Greece, the Greek Cypriot Administration (Republic of Cyprus) and Egypt, which contains unfounded accusations and allegations against our country, as is usual from previous meetings of these three.
The fact that the statements published, which claim to be aimed at supporting peace and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean, target our country each time and reveal the real intentions of these countries.
Real cooperation in the Eastern Mediterranean can only be achieved through a holistic approach that includes all the coastal countries, including the Turkish Cypriots.
If the countries that create the problems in the region do not change their maximalist and hostile policies, they cannot be part of the solution to the problems. We will resolutely continue to protect both our rights and the rights of the Turkish Cypriots in the Eastern Mediterranean.”
