The President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Theodoros Roussopoulos, visited New York, the headquarters of the United Nations, as part of the strengthening of cooperation between the organizations.
Archbishop Elpidophoros of America welcomed Archbishop Roussopoulos to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, with whom they discussed issues of promoting human rights, religious freedom and strengthening ties between Europe and the Greek Diaspora. Emphasis was placed on the role of the Church in social cohesion, the support of vulnerable groups and the Greek community.
