Yesterday, the President of the Hellenic Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas, had a conversation with Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, and the newly appointed Archbishop Symeon of Sinai, Pharan and Raitho, and Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Saint Catherine of the God-trodden Mount Sinai. The conversation took place on the occasion of Symeon’s ordination at the Patriarchate of Jerusalem.
Mr. Tasoulas thanked the Patriarch of Jerusalem for his spiritual contributions to the succession process in the Archdiocese of Sinai and congratulated the new Archbishop on his election and ordination. Mr. Tasoulas expressed his hope that this new chapter in the monastery’s history will definitively settle its status and safeguard its rights, which have been exercised for fifteen centuries with the unwavering support of the Greek state.
