President of the Hellenic Republic Konstantinos A. Tasoulas received Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, who briefed him on the current state and ongoing work of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. The Archbishop emphasized the central role the Archdiocese plays in preserving the identity and cohesion of the Greek diaspora, serving as a vital spiritual and cultural link with the homeland.
During the meeting, President Tasoulas underscored that the Greek State firmly supports the Archdiocese of America and its multifaceted mission—spiritual, humanitarian, and educational. This mission, he noted, aims not only to sustain the rich Greek Orthodox tradition as a living heritage among the Greek-American community, but also to strengthen the collective bonds of Hellenism abroad.
The President highlighted that Greek-Americans, who are both members of the diaspora and citizens of the United States, serve as steadfast guardians of Hellenic and Orthodox identity across the American continent. Their enduring love for Greece remains an invaluable asset, reflected in the unwavering support they offer to the homeland in every national endeavor.
He also stressed the essential contribution of the Archdiocese in maintaining key conditions that reinforce the diaspora’s connection with Greece—safeguarding the Greek language, promoting cultural identity, and cultivating the immense potential of Greek expatriates.
President Tasoulas reaffirmed to Archbishop Elpidophoros both the nation’s and his own personal commitment to supporting the Archdiocese in the fulfillment of its sacred mission.
