The President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, conveyed his heartfelt condolences through a social media post following the passing of Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana, Durres, and All Albania.
In his message, President Begaj stated:
“Today, Albania has lost one of its greatest treasures, Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana, Durres, and All Albania, Professor Dr. Anastasios. He was a spiritual leader and a distinguished figure of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania.
During his tenure, the Archbishop guided the Church with wisdom, devotion, and love for humanity. He played a pivotal role in the revival and strengthening of the Church, charting a new path for the Albanian Orthodox faith, particularly following the challenging periods of the past. He was a tireless example of spiritual dedication and a beacon of light for all who followed his work.
In this sorrowful moment, we extend our deepest condolences to the Church and to all the faithful who have lost their spiritual father and shepherd, a beloved and respected leader. His legacy will remain alive in the hearts of those who honored and loved him.
We pray that God grants him eternal rest in the abodes of the righteous, and may his memory be eternal!”
