The Greek Orthodox Community of St. George in Clifton, New Jersey, has already started preparations for Greek Festival Mega Take Out Weekend.
This is one of the biggest cultural and fundraising events organized by the community. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the festival will only offer local delicacies and will provide the opportunity to the Greek Diaspora and anyone who will attend it to taste Greek gyros, moussaka, souvlaki, baked lamb, moussaka and pastitsio and a wide range of traditional sweets.
The festival will start on the afternoon of Thursday, June 11, 2021, at 16.00 with the sanctification rite that will be performed by the hierarchical head of the community, Protopresbyter Peter G. Balkas.
The festival will continue on Saturday, June 12, 2021, from 11.30 until 20.00 and on Sunday, June 13, 2021, from 11.30 until 18.00.
Those interested can order the food they like through the website no later than Monday, May 7, 2021, by paying and choosing delivery time.
So those who prefer curbside ordering will order the food they like on the spot and will stay in their car until it is prepared and delivered to them.
The Festival Committee headed by Vassilios Manoliadis has taken care of the details and pays special attention to the orders via the internet. In fact, for every order worth more than $ 10.00, they will offer a free soda or a bottle of water, while for orders over $ 30.00, they offer free two-liter soft drink.
At the same time, he reminds the customers that the lamb shank has turned into a hot seller and they recommend the pre-order.
Speaking to anamniseis.net, Denis Poulou-Tsitsini pointed out that the festival was not only one of the largest cultural and fundraising events but also one of the largest voluntary events since it provides the opportunity for three generations of community members to work voluntarily and discover our national virtues, including hospitality.
