On Thursday, June 17, 2021, when it is twenty years since the repose of the second Bishop of Sumasija, Sava Vukovic, Bishop Jovan of Sumadija served the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God in Kragujevac.
The Divine Liturgy was concelebrated by many priests and deacons of the Diocese of Sumadija.
The choir of the Cathedral church of the Mother of God conducted by archpriest Dragoslav Milovan enhanced the Holy Liturgy with its chanting.
After the Holy Liturgy, a memorial service was held for Bishop Sava, and on that occasion, the Bishop held a sermon.
Throughout the entire ministry of Bishop Sava in the Serbian Church, and in twenty-four years at the most in Sumadija, we see and feel the fruits of his sacrifice even more clearly, Bishop Jovan stressed.
After the prayerful commemoration, an agape feast was arranged in the diocesan court, and on that occasion, Dr. Nenad Ristovic, full professor at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, addressed the audience and reminded them of Bishop Sava’s contribution to preserving the old Serbian church chanting, as well as the importance of the Serbian Church in the chanting heritage of Christianity.
