A new round of talks addressing the ongoing war in Ukraine is likely to be held in mid-June at the Vatican, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.
The American newspaper notes that a U.S. delegation may participate in the meeting, led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and President Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg.
Meanwhile, Italian media report that several European leaders have expressed hope that the Vatican-hosted meeting could lead to an unconditional ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.
Although no official confirmation has yet been issued, the possibility of hosting such a high-level meeting in the Vatican has been positively received by various parties involved in the peace process.
