During today’s Wednesday General Audience, Pope Leo XIV delivered a heartfelt appeal regarding the dire humanitarian crises unfolding in both Gaza and Ukraine.
“From the Gaza Strip,” the Pontiff said, “the cry of mothers and fathers who hold in their arms the lifeless bodies of their children rises ever more loudly to heaven. These families are constantly forced to flee in search of food and safer shelter from the bombings. Once again, I appeal to those responsible: cease the fire, release all hostages, and fully respect international humanitarian law.”
Turning his attention to Ukraine, Pope Leo XIV emphasized: “I pray for and stand with all the victims, especially the children and families. I repeat with urgency my call for an end to the war and for support for all initiatives that promote peace and dialogue. I ask everyone to support prayers for peace in Ukraine and in all regions where people are suffering because of war.”
