Pope Leo XIV addressed the world’s great powers with a plea for “no more wars” in his first Sunday message to the crowd gathered in St. Peter’s Square.
Elected on May 8, the new pope called for “authentic and lasting peace” in Ukraine, a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and the release of all Israeli hostages.
Leo also welcomed the recent truce between India and Pakistan, adding that he prays to God to grant the world “the miracle of peace.”
