Pope Leo criticized escalation of war in Ukraine, called for “silence of weapons”

vaticannews.va

Pope Leo XIV on Saturday condemned the escalation of the war in Ukraine, calling for “the weapons to fall silent and the path of dialogue to be pursued.”

The Pope made this appeal following a Mass held outside the Angolan capital, Luanda, attended by approximately 100,000 people.

The Pontiff also praised the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, which halted hostilities between Israeli forces and the Iran-backed group Hezbollah, describing it as “a reason for hope.”
